Our journey began in Moscow, Russia, after we made the bold decision to leave university and pursue a hands-on path in handmade shoemaking. Before that our global approach resulted in thought of beginning ventures in CIS countries like Armenia, winning startup competition in HSE university incubator as graduate student of applied economics and partnering with international students there. In 2019, we bought our first shoe machinery and set up a small workshop in a rented space in Tehran, Persia. Our first collection of handmade shoes didn’t gain traction immediately—but we didn’t stop. Support from our parallel ventures in investment, food, Airbnb similar business, renovation and construction helped us stay resilient and survive in the leather industry.
